About usThe Kala Chethena Kathakali Company was established in 1987 to bring Kathakali to the UK. We have since provided over 3,000 workshops, 3,000 solo performances, 1,500 full company performances, 23 UK Tours and 21 exhibitions.

Our futureDuring 2016 and 2017 we will be working on an exciting heritage project [kindly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund] to explore the similarities of Kathakali and Carnival. This will embrace the colourful traditions of south India and the Caribbean. We want to celebrate these remarkable cultures shaped by migrating people who took their heritage with them.
